The Farrell Family
Bob and Angelita Farrell raised their children on this land — the same ground Bob's mom and dad worked season after season with the kind of care that only comes from people who truly belong to it. Bob grew up here, learned here, and has spent his life carrying that legacy forward in the fields, while Angelita keeps the heart of the lodge alive. Her rich traditions and her amazing Filipino Pork Adobo and home cooking are the soul of every visit — the warmth guests remember as much as the hunt itself. Together they've built something rare: a true family operation where the welcome is as legendary as the fields.
When you step onto Farrell Farms, you become part of the family. That means genuine hospitality and stories shared around the table long after the last bird of the day. And when dinner is served, you're not getting a buffet line — you're getting Angelita's home-cooked Filipino recipes. It's a one-of-a-kind experience you won't find at any other South Dakota hunting lodge, and honestly, it's one of the reasons guests come back season after season.
The Land
Our hunting grounds span Aurora & Davison Counties, from the prairie fields surrounding our White Lake lodge to the legendary James River Oxbow near Mitchell. Nearly 2,000 acres of native grasslands, shelterbelts, food plots, and wetland edges — some of the most productive pheasant habitat in all of South Dakota. This is a living, working farm with deep roots, not just a hunting backdrop.
When you hunt at Farrell Farms, you're walking ground that has been loved for decades and will be loved for decades more. Ram's background in agronomy means the stewardship here is intentional — the cover, the food sources, the soil health — all of it managed with an eye toward the future. Each day we load up and follow the birds, whether that means the rolling prairies close to home or the run into Davison County to work the Oxbow bottoms. The land shows the difference.
The Experience
Bob, his daughter Ryas, and her husband Aaron guide every hunt personally. You're in family hands from the moment you arrive — people who know these fields intimately and genuinely care that you have the best day possible. Our bird dogs are trained, eager, and live for the flush. Your job is simple: enjoy the walk, take the shot, and soak in the scenery.
After the fields, it's back to the lodge where Angelita has dinner waiting. Think tender Filipino home cooking — rich, flavorful, and made from scratch. Guests regularly tell us the food alone is worth the trip. This is South Dakota hospitality with a twist you'll never forget — no pretense, no gimmicks, just family, great food, and the kind of experience you'll be talking about for years.
